Rodent Control in Gauteng
Protect your home or business from the health risks and damage caused by rodents.
Signs of a Rodent Problem
You might not see a rat or mouse during the day, but the signs they leave behind can tell you where to look. Keep an eye—and an ear—out for:

Rodent Droppings
Small, dark droppings along skirting boards, in cupboards or near food sources can be an early clue that rodents are active nearby.

Gnaw Marks
Look for damaged food packaging, chewed wood or gnaw marks on electrical wiring. Rodents can cause damage while searching for food and shelter.

Nesting Evidence
Shredded materials in ceilings, roofs or other hidden areas.
Our Approach to Rodent Control
Rodents can enter through small gaps and settle in places that are difficult to reach. At PurePest Solutions, we look beyond the signs you can see to understand where rodents are active and how they may be getting in.
Inspect and Identify
We look for signs of rodent activity, potential nesting areas and the gaps or openings they may be using to enter.
Target the Problem
We recommend a treatment suited to your property, using targeted methods such as tamper-resistant bait stations where appropriate.
Help Prevent Their Return
We offer proofing of rodent entry points and advise you on areas that need sealing, as well as food and shelter sources that may be attracting rodents.
Don’t Let Rodents Make Themselves at Home
Whether you’ve found droppings, heard scratching in the ceiling or spotted a rat on your property, PurePest Solutions is ready to help you take the next step.
Rodent Control FAQs
How long does the bait take to work?
Rodents are naturally cautious of new objects and may avoid bait stations for a few days. Once they start feeding, the bait usually takes a few days to work. Clearing an entire infestation can take two weeks or more, depending on its size.
Will a dead rodent cause a bad smell?
A smell is most likely when a rodent dies in a warm, enclosed space with little airflow. In most cases the odour fades within one to two weeks. Treating an infestation early reduces the number of rodents and the chance of unpleasant smells.
What attracts rats and mice to my property?
Rodents look for food, water, warmth and shelter, especially during colder months. Pet food, bird seed, open bins, compost heaps and wood stacks all make a property attractive to them. Sealing gaps and removing food sources go a long way towards keeping them out.
What signs indicate a rodent infestation?
The most common signs are small dark droppings, gnaw marks on food packaging, wood or electrical wiring, and greasy smudge marks along walls and skirting boards. You may also hear scratching or scurrying noises in the roof or walls, especially at night. Shredded paper or fabric used as nesting material and a strong, stale smell of urine are further signs that rodents have moved in.
How quickly do rodents multiply?
Rodents breed extremely fast, which is why a small problem can grow quickly. A female mouse can produce up to 10 litters a year, and rats can have several litters with multiple young each time. Acting at the first sign of rodents prevents a small problem from becoming a large infestation.
