The trunk weighed about 15 tonnes. It began growing before the arrival of Jan van Riebeeck at the Cape.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Yellowwoods of this age and size are now extremely rare. Most large yellowwoods in this region were logged during the late 1800s and early 1900s, when plantation forestry expanded in Woodbush.\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Remaining giant yellowwoods are now strictly protected. Slabs of this scale can only come from a very large, old tree. Each slab shows growth patterns shaped over four centuries.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dd09812 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"dd09812\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">From Slabs to Tables<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5cf384f elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5cf384f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Thirty-five numbered floating tables were created from this single tree trunk.\u00a0<span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">No two tables are identical. Each is defined by its own cut, grain and markings.
